About
The goal: make reading and writing enjoyable, achievable and full of imagination for every child.
Welcome to Vicky Phillips Writes
I am a primary school teacher with a passion for storytelling and a love of helping children grow in confidence as readers and writers. Over the years, I’ve shared countless stories with my pupils and it is often the little things they say or do that inspire new ideas for my own writing. I especially enjoy sharing rhyming picture books in the classroom and watching how rhythm and wordplay can light up a child’s imagination.
My writing journey began while working for a teaching resource company, where I created comprehension texts for young readers. I discovered how much I enjoyed writing stories that were imaginative yet meaningful — tales that children could connect with and learn from.
Since then, I’ve gone on to publish Dottie’s Tall Tales and Ramesh’s Rage, both of which were inspired by the curiosity and playful energy I see in the classroom every day.
Alongside my books, I now create guides and resources for schools and parents, offering practical, easy-to-use ideas to support children’s learning in the classroom and at home.
I also work with fellow authors to design bespoke educational resources — activity sheets, discussion prompts, classroom materials and lesson resources that bring their stories to life and help teachers use those books with confidence.
Whether it’s through a story, a downloadable guide, or tailored resources for authors and schools, my goal remains the same: to make reading and writing enjoyable, achievable and full of imagination for every child.
